Formally trained by DJ Eric B. of Eric B. and Rakim. DJ Oxygen honed his craft as a young man under the alias “Shaheem” and has been executing his talent on multiple platforms globally since 1989. Signed to the popular Bad Boy Entertainment since the young age of 16, a scrawny kid full of strength, the legendary rap icon Notorious B.I.G aka “Biggie Smalls’  bestowed him with the nickname Ox. Along with being a “Beast” on the turntables , Ox became Biggie’s personal DJ. His epic mixes are documented as part of hip-hop history, such as the legendary song “One More Chance” to name one. Changing his name to DJ Oxygen years later, he became one of the most requested party DJ’s, and is famously respected as a personal touring DJ for comedic acts such as D.L. Hughley, Bill Bellamy, and A-Train.
